An Introduction to
CHRISTIAN SPIRITISM

A Brief History and Overview of Christian Spiritism, and a Christian Spiritist view of the Rapture, the End-Times, the Spirit-World, Heaven and Hell, and the Second Advent of Jesus Christ


What is Christian Spiritism?

Christian Spiritism is "the science of spirits, their origin, purpose, and destiny" which centers itself upon "the Spirit of Truth" who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of mankind.

Spiritism is a religious philosophy that was codified in the 1860s by the Frenchman Hippolyte Léon Denizard Revail; otherwise known as Allan Kardec (1804-1869). We do NOT recognize Allan Kardec as a Prophet, nor even as a Medium. Kardec was chosen by Jesus Christ, via a Medium's message, to "codify" (organize) Spiritism into a system of belief based upon Messages from the Spirit of Truth that some Mediums in France where then receiving.

We refer to Allan Kardec as the "codifier" (organizer) of Spiritism.

Spiritism can also be called "Christian Spiritism" since the Messages from the Spiritist Mediums all confirm that Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior, and virgin-born Son of God is the very Center of Spiritist belief.

There are about two million Spiritists in the world today; mostly in Brazil, but also in 20 other countries, and the movement is growing very rapidly.

The Founder of Spiritism is The Spirit of Truth, or, in other words, the Spirit of Jesus Christ who communicated through various French Mediums to Allan Kardec in the mid 19th century.

Spiritism is not a "church" but a "religious science, philosophy, and way of life".


A Brief History of Spiritism

Spiritism is first mentioned in the Bible, when King Saul, the king of Israel, finds that he cannot communicate with the LORD via the usual methods (urim and thummin, dreams, etc.). So, he goes to the "Witch of Endor" ("witch" is a MIStranslation that should read "Medium") in order to get communication from Samuel the Prophet, the man who made Saul king, but who was now dead. The Medium is able to do this, and Samuel begins to speak through the Medium, and telling Saul that he and his sons would be killed during the next battle of between the Israelites and the Philistines; and this happens.

There is nothing in the New Testament regarding Spiritism, other than Jesus Himself appearing to Saul (Paul) on the road to Damascus, and to Peter and others in vision after His death and resurrection. But in the Apochraphal New Testament (books by early Chritsians that did not make it into the New Testament) there are a number of examples of dead Christian martyrs appearing to living Christians; giving them messages of hope and comfort.

Joachim of Fiore

In the 12th century A.D., in southern Italy, there arose a certain Catholic mystic, monk, and priest, named Joachim of Fiore (1135-1202 A.D.). While a monk he made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and climbed to the top of Mount Tabor; the mountain where Jesus appeared with Moses and Elijah to the apostles Peter, James, and John.

On Mount Tabor, Joachim received some sort of vision, later claiming that Jesus had commissioned him to write certain books which would explain how God would bring a future "Age of the Spirit". Joachim came back from his pilgrimage, and joined the Cistercian Order, becoming a priest and later an abbot. He wrote several books which became very popular and controversial. In one of the books, Joachim claimed that God was was Revealing Himself in three Ages:

*The Age of the Father (Old Testament)
*The Age of the Son (New Testament)
*The Age of the Holy Spirit (The New Revelation)

In the Age of the Father, the Father (Jehovah) would speak through Prophets.

In the Age of the Son, the Son (Jesus) would speak to Apostles, either in person or in vision.

In the Age of the Spirit, the Spirit of Truth would speak through Christian Mystics that Joachim referred to as "the Order of the Just".

Joachim believed that the Age of the Spirit would commence in the year 1260; based upon the "1260 days" mentioned in the Book of Revelations (Rev. 11:3, 12:6). At that time, in the year 1260, the Hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church would lose its authority over Christianity, and John the Revelator would return to usher in the Age of the Holy Spirit, and the priesthood would be obsolete. The Old and New Testaments would be replaced with a New Spirit-Revelation that would be more pure, more direct, and higher spiritually than the former testaments.

Joachim said that this "New Revelation" from the Spirit of Truth, would commence in the year 1260.

The Franciscans called Joachim a "prophet". But, when 1260 A.D. came and went, with nothing happening, most concluded that Joachim had been sincerely mistaken in his interpretation of the "1260 days" mentioned in Revelations 12:6.

We believe that Joachim was right, but the "1260 days" in the Book of Revelations referred NOT to 1260 A.D., but to the year 1260 A.H. (the Muslim year 1260); which was the Christian year 1844.

William Miller and the Millerites

In the 1830s a man named William Miller, a Baptist, had studied the prophecies of the Bible, and came to the conclusion that Jesus Christ would return in 1843 or 1844, based upon interpretations of Daniel chapter 8, where the Prophet Daniel is told that the "time of the end" would take place 2300 "mornings and evenings" after the Decree of Artaxerxes (a Persian emperor) to rebuild the Temple at Jerusalem which the Babylonians had destroyed. Miller interpreted the 2300 "days" as "prophetic years". He added 2300 years to 457 B.C. (the Decree of Artaxerxes) and came to 1843. Later, after the LORD did a "no show" in 1843, he correctly added 1 year (from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D.) and came to the correct date of 1844.

He calculated that, according to Bible prophecy, the LORD should return sometime between March 21st (Jewish new year) of 1843 and March 21, 1844. He made many thousands of converts, and they awaited the Day of the LORD. Many sold their farms, thinking the LORD would rapture them up into the sky on the promised day. They believed the LORD would come "with ten thousnads of his saints" in the clouds of the sky; to rapture the faithful Christians into the sky.

But the LORD did not come in a cloudy sky; not in 1843, and not in 1844. The Millerites were horribly disappointed. They felt that the LORD had failed them, or the LORD had, for some unknown reason, delayed His coming. Some of them, after "the Great Disappointment", later formed the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The Rapture

Evangelical Christians still believe today that when the LORD returns, He will return in a cloudy sky, and all true "born again" Christians will fly up into that cloudy sky to meet Jesus; either from their graves (with dirt flying everywhere), or from wherever they are. Christian pilots will suddenly disappear. Christian bus drivers will disappear.

Millions will suddenly "disappear" and meet Jesus in the sky...invisibly. They based this Rapture hope upon the following verses by Paul:

"For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:15–17)
What they did not know then, was that THE LORD HAD COME, with ten thousand of His saints. But He returned invisibly to the Earth. He returned "in the air" (1 Thessalonians 14:16). The Millerites had expected the LORD to return "in the sky". But the Greek said that the LORD would return in the "aer" (translated "air" in English). The Greek word aer does NOT mean "sky" (the Greek word "ouranous" means "sky"). The Greek word aer means "unseen world" that surrounds us.

Meeting the Lord in the AER

The LORD had returned with His saints, but not in a cloudy sky. They returned to the AER (Greek: "Unseen World which surrounds us"). The Greeks believed that the dead lived in the "aer". This is the Greek word Paul uses in 1 Thessalonians. He uses "aer" (Unseen World) NOT "ouranous" ("the sky"...the place where the clouds hang) in 1 Thessalonians 14:16. Christians think that they will meet Jesus in a cloudy sky, but the original Greek does not say that! The original Greek says that Christian will meet Jesus in the CLOUDS (great multitudes of believers) in the AER (Unseen World that surrounds us).

The Rapture occurred, as expected, but not in the physical world. The Rapture was not about all of the true Christians flying up into a cloudy sky to meet Jesus in the clouds. The Rapture happened in 1844, in the Spirit-World (Greek: aer), when the dead were raised from soul-sleep, and met Jesus in the clouds; not a cloudy sky, but in the "clouds" (great multitude) of believers.

Meeting the Lord in a Cloud

Paul used the word "clouds" to mean "great multitudes" like "a cloud of witnesses". Paul wrote:

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us." (Hebrews 12:1)
Paul was saying that surrounding was "so great a cloud of witnesses" (meaning the Christians who had died). They were in the AER (Greek: Unseen World/Spirit-World) that surrounds us. That is what Paul meant being meeting Jesus "in the cloud" and "in the air". He meant we would meet Him in the Spirit-World (Aer) among a CLOUD of witnesses (fellow believers).

In 1844 the LORD had come to wake up those who slept; the dead "saints" (true Christians) in the Spirit-World. In the Spirit-World they were asleep, but in 1844, they awoke! The resurrection does NOT refer to coming out of our graves, in our Sunday best (our clothese "resurrected" to). It refers to waking up in the Spirit-World, and meeting the LORD there.

My Kingdom is not of this world

When Jesus was arrested He was brought before Pontius Pilate, the Roman Prefect of Judea. Pilate wanted to know if Jesus claimed to be the king of the Jews. Jesus replied:

36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. (John 18:36)
The Roman Catholic interpretation: Jesus was saying that His kingdom was not yet established, but would be when the first Pope (Peter) sat upon the first papal throne in Rome, then His kingdom WOULD BE of this world.

Protestant interpretation: Jesus was saying that His kingdom was NOT YET of this world, but would be when He returned at His second coming. Then He would establish an earthly Kingdom that would rule all other earthly kingdoms.

Christian Spiritist interpretation: Jesus said His kingdom was NOT of this world, and it would never be of "this" world. He would return, but His kingdom would be established in the Spirit-World; not ever in the Material-World ("this" world). And this happened, in 1844, when Jesus returned to the Spirit-world, resurrected the sleeping (unconscious) dead, and established His kingdom in that world (dimension).

1844: the Birth of Spiritualism

In 1844, in that very year the Millerites had expected the LORD to come "with ten thousands of his saints", the Muslim year 1290 A.H. (the year that Joachim saw in vision), was the birth of Spiritualism. It began with Andrew Jackson Davis, an American from Poughkeepsie, New York State, who is considered to be the "John the Baptist" of the Spiritualist Movement. A Spiritualist minister, the Rev. Simeon Stefanidakas, writes:

"In 1844, Andrew Jackson Davis had an experience which was to change the course of his life. On the evening of March 6th, Davis was suddenly overcome by some power which led him to "fly" from Poughkeepsie, where he lived, and hurry off in a semi-trance state, upon a rapid journey. Upon gaining full consciousness the next morning, he found himself amidst the Catskill Mountains, some 40 miles away. Here, he claims to have met two very distinguished men, whom he later identified as the philosopher Galen and the Swedish seer Emanuel Swedenborg, both of whom were, of course, dead. He also claimed to have experienced a great mental illumination and revelation." (Forerunners to Modern Spiritualism, p.2 online)

Davis would write several books on nature and science, which, in the 1840s, sounded absurd, but today (2008) reads in according to known physics and astronomy.

Other people began reporting that spirits, including dead Christians, were communicating to them. Soon, a group of spiritually sensitive people arose calling themselves "Mediums" who claimed to be in communication with the spirits of the dead during seances ("say-on-sez").

The Mediums communicated with the Spirit-World by one of the following methods:

*Psychic Mediums (the Medium remained awake and alert and described what they saw or heard "in the mind's eye"). Psychic Mediums are also called "Sensitives".

*Trance Mediums (the Medium went into a trance and often spoke in a different voice--the voice of the dead person being contacted). Trance Mediums are also called "Channelers".

*Planchette (one or more would place their fingers on a tripod that held a pencil, and the pencil would either write out words, or it would point to letters written on a board).

*Automatic Writing (the Medium would go into a semi-trance with their eyes closed, holding a pen or brush, and would allow the spirit to write through them onto a sheet of paper).

Many of these Mediums charged money, and many of them were fakes. Others did not charge money, and seemed sincere.

Another of these Mediums who did not charge money was a Scotsman named Daniel Dunglas Home ("Hyoom"). Home claimed to be in contact with "The Spirit of Truth" and several other spirits. As evidence, Home ("Hyoom") had the ability to levitate into the air at will. Home ("Hyoom") performed these levitations for journalists and skeptics all the time, and nobody could find any trickery during his levitations.

There was a man named Robert Dale Owen, who had been an avowed and popular Atheist. He wanted to meet Daniel Home, to "debunk" him as a fraud. Owen did, and saw Home levitate. Owen then became a Spiritualist; one of the great "Apostles" of Spiritualism at that time. Owen was instrumental in ending Negro slavery in America.

Another famous Spiritualist was Abraham Lincoln, the American President during the American Civil War. The Confederates of the South were all Evangelical Christians, and believed that Negroes were the "sons of Ham" and under the "Curse of Canaan" mentioned in the Old Testament (i.e. Noah cursed Canaan, the son of Ham, to be a "servant of servants" and Negroes were believed to be "Canaanites" or descendants of Canaan). They argued that God Himself ordained that Negroes should be their slaves; justifying this with passages from the Old and New Testaments which authorized or condoned slavery. Southern preachers preached that white Christians were "doing the heathen African a favor" by bringing them to America and making them Christians.

The Spiritualists, however, believed that Negroes should be free, based upon their own convictions as well as messages they received through Mediums from the Spirit-World.

In 1863, during the Civil War (which was about keeping the Union together, not about slavery) Robert Dale Owen wrote a letter to Abraham Lincoln, begging him to free the enslaved Negroes of the South. A few days later, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation setting all black slaves free.

Owens was a Congressman from Indiana, and also wrote the first draft to the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which reads in part:

"Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
Before the 14th Amendment, Negroes were not American citizens, but seen as "property", and even freed blacks could not vote nor hold public office.

Robert Dale Owen was also the "father" of the public school system, and was instrumental in getting Congress to grant property rights to married women. He was one of the chief apostles of Spiritualism in his day.

Two weeks after the Civil War ended, Abraham Lincoln was shot dead. His widow, Mary Lincoln, continued to have seances ("say-on-sez") in the White House, and one Spiritualist photography took this photo during one seance:

After the Civil War, Spiritualism became even more popular. The Spiritualist messages said that other planets were populated, and that many disases would one-day be cured by science, and other things which have come to pass.

Many Christians began attending seances ("say-on-sez"), and began to call themselves "Christian Spiritualists". The ministers of the mainline churches were not pleased at all. Evangelical Christians ministers preached that Spiritualism was "of the Devil" and warned their congregations against "the Cult of Spiritualism". They warned their congregations that anyone who had been to a seance ("say-ons") had to "repent" and never go again, or they would burn in Hell-fire for all eternity! Many Christian Spiritualists were scared senseless by their ministers, so they dropped Spiritualism altogether.

When Jesus was on earth, He was called "that deceiver" (Matthew 27:63) and the religious leaders told the people that He cast out demons because He (Jesus) was in cahoots with the demons; via the power of the Prince of the Demons:

"By the prince of the demons casteth he out demons." (Matt. 9:34)

The reason why the crowd shouted "Crucify him! Crucify him!" after Jesus' arrest was because their religious leaders had told them that Jesus was a "deceiver" who was in cahoots with thd Devil! And the common people believed their ministers! To them, these men were Men of God.

Because of the opposition of the Catholic and Protestant clergymen, Spiritualism began to wain. But that wasn't the only reason that Spiritualism became less popular. Spiritualism attracted many "fake" Mediums; these were con-men and con-women who simply wanted to take people's money. They would hold seances ("say-on-sez") and use various magicians tricks to make people think they were contacting the dead, and they charged great amounts of money for this.

Many of the Mediums who did not charge any money did not want to be confused with the fake Mediums. So, the Mediums who did not charge money began to call themselves "Spiritists" instead of "Spiritualists"; to distinguish themselves from the "Spiritualist" Mediums who charged money for "readings". This is NOT to say that all (or even most) Spiritualist Mediums were fakes, but the Spiritist Mediums who did not charge money for readings did not wish to confused with those Spiritualist Mediums who did.

Spiritist Mediums: did not charge money for their "Readings". They laimed to be in communication with "holy spirits" such as Jesus, various Catholic saints, several Apostles, early Christian martyrs, and others.

The Beginning of Christian Spiritism

In the mid 1850s, several of the Spiritist Mediums in France claimed to be in communication with Jesus Christ or "The Spirit of Truth". They claimed that Jesus (or the Spirit of Truth) had a Message to the world.

Several of these Mediums, at different times and in different locations, declared that Jesus was spreaking through them. They had a Message, specifically for a Frenchman named Hippolyte Revail. They claimed that Jesus wanted Revail to "codify" their Messages, and publish those Messages to the world.

The Mediums referred to Mr. Revail (who was a teacher at that time) as "Allan Kardec"; the name Mr. Revail had in a previous life as a Celtic Druid in Roman times. Revail began to write all his Spiritist works under the name "Allan Kardec".

In one of these Messages, the Jesus Christ, as the Spirit of Truth, addressed Kardec, saying:


“I have come, as I came on another occasion to those misguided sons and daughters of Israel, to bring the truth and to dissipate the darkness. Harken unto me! As my words in the past have done, so, must Spiritism remind the incredulous that above them reigns the immutable truth which is the existence of the good God, the great God, who causes the plants to germinate and the waves to rise up. As a reaper I have gathered in sheaves the scattered goodness in the breasts of humanity and said: ‘Come unto me, all you who suffer.”

But Man with ungratefulness has moved away from the straight and narrow path which leads to the Kingdom of my Father and has followed the bleak pathways of impiety. My Father does not wish to annihilate the human race; He wants the living and the dead, that is to say those who are dead according to the flesh because death does not exist, to assist each other mutually and listen no more to the voice of the prophets and apostles, but listen to those who no longer live upon Earth and proclaim: ‘ Pray and believe! Death is the resurrection and life is an ordeal you seek, during which the virtues you have cultivated will grow and develop, even as the cedar tree.”

Those of you who are weak and know the obscurity of your own minds, do no deviate from the beacon which divine clemency has put into your hands so as to enlighten your pathway and reconduct you, who are lost children, once again to the bosom of the Father.

I am too much overcome with compassion for your miseries and by your immense weakness not to extend a helping hand to all those unhappily misguided who, while looking up to Heaven, fall into the pit of error. Do not mix the chaff with the good seed, nor the Utopias with the truth.

Spiritists! Love one another, that is the first precept; educate yourselves is the second.

Within Christianity you will find all the truths. The errors in which Man has become enrooted are all of human origin. Here from beyond the grave, where you thought there was nothing voices clamor: ‘Brothers and sisters! Nothing perishes! Jesus-Christ is the victor over evil, you can be the victors over impiety.’” (Paris, 1860, “Christ the Consoler” – The Gospel According to Spiritism – Ch. 6 - Item 5)

Revail accepted the "commission" from Jesus (through the Mediums) to codify and promote SPIRITISM. He thereafter wrote under the name "Allan Kardec".

Kardec worked very hard for years to collect various Messages from various Spiritist Mediums into The Spiritist Codification; a series of five books which form the basis of Christian Spiritism. The very moment had completed writing the books he set out to write, he died, at his desk, just finishing his last book, in 1869.

After his death, other Spiritists published his books in France, then in Germany, Spain, and Portugal. Some Spiritists in Portugal moved to Brazil; where Spiritism spread like a wild-fire. Now, there are over 2 million Christian Spiritists in the world today; mostly in Brazil. The Movement is spreading rapidly throughout the world.

In the 1990s, Spiritist leaders from throughout the world gathered in France to organize the International Spiritist Council; which has become the governing body of the movement worldwide.

The Central Figure in Spiritism is __NOT__ Allan Kardec. He is seen as the "Apostle" of Christian Spiritism. The Central Figure of Spiritism is Jesus Christ. Allan Kardec himself wrote that a "true Spiritist" must be a "Christian Spiritist" (The Mediums' Book 1:3:28)


Where does Spiritism fit in Bible Prophecy?

We believe that Spiritism "fits" in Bible prophecy when the Bible mentioned the "2300 days" (Daniel) and the "1260" days (Revelations). It fits in reference to the "rapture" (1 Thessalonians); referring to when the "dead in Christ" shall "rise first" to meet the LORD "in the AER (Unseen World)" in a cloud (great multitude).

Many Christians reading this have been led to believe in the "Futurist" scenerio of End-Times prophecy. So, they will say, "Oh, this cannot be true! The Rapture will take place 7 years BEFORE the Great Tribulation! It could NOT have been in 1844"

We will show that what most Evangelical Christians today believe about the End-Times (the "Futurist" view) is FALSE!

Let us explain.

The original Christians, the Christians of the first and second century, believed that the Anti-Christ and False Prophet arose in their own day. But that knowledge was later lost.

The Roman Catholic Church taught that the Anti-Christ would be a "false pope" and the "Beast" would be the Catholic Church in "apostasy" ("fallen away" from its original teachings).

The original Protestant Reformers taught that the Anti-Christ was the Papacy (each Pope was an Anti-Christ) and that the False Prophet was Muhammad and the "Beast" was the Roman Catholic Church.

Then, in the 1830s, a man named John Darby, from England, popularized the new interpretation (called "Futurist") that the Anti-Christ had not yet arisen, and would not arise until 7 years before the Second Coming of Christ. He taught there would be 7 years of tribulation for Christians, but before those seven years were over, Jesus would appear invisibly to rapture all the truly born again Christians into His invisible kingdom. Then He would return, destroy the Anti-Christ and False Prophet, and then reign for 1000 years on Earth, then let Satan loose for "a little season" then destroy the Universe and create a new Heaven and a new Earth.

Darby was not a Bible scholar, nor historian. He was a lawyer. He simply read different Bible passages and strung them together as he saw fit. His interpretation of Bible prophecy (called "Futurist") eventually became the most popular view among Evangelical Christians worldwide.

Most Bible scholars today believe that the "Beast" (with 7 heads and 10 horns) mentioned in the Apocalyse was the pagan Roman Empire (set on 7 hills and ruled by 10 ceasars by the time the Book of Revelations was written). They believe that "the False Prophet" was Simon Magus (a contemporary of Jesus), and that the "number of the Beast" (666) referred to NERON KESAR (Nero Ceasar in Hebrew):

The "stamp of the beast" (the Greek says "stamp" and not "mark"--which is a MIStranslation) refers to the "stamp" of the image of ceasar upon all coins and business licenses. Nobody could buy (coin) or sell (license) without the "stamp".

Just about NO (zero) Bible scholars or historians accept Darby's "futurist" interpretation of the Apocalyse.

Just about all Bible scholars accept the preterist ("preter" means "already happened" in Latin) view of the Apocalyse. The Preterist view says this:

*The Beast was the pagan Roman Empire.

*The Woman riding the Beast was Apostate Israel; fornicating (doing business with) with pagan Rome.

*The Woman Clothed with the Sun was True Israel (the first Christians).

*The 7-headed Red Dragon were the seven Herodian kings, who killed a third of all descendants of David (a third of the stars of heaven were cast down).

*The Mark of the Beast was the "stamp" of the image of Nero upon coins and business licenses (nobody would buy or sell without the "stamp")

*The Number of the Beast ("666") was NERON KESAR in Hebrew (Hebrew letters were also numbers).

*The Man of Sin was Hadrian, the homosexual Roman emperor who had a statue of himself as Jupiter placed in the Most Holy Place of the rebuilt Jewish Temple (proclaiming himself God) in 130 A.D.; causing the Second Jewish Revolt which killed a third of all Jews.

*The Anti-Christ was Nero, who, on all coins with his image, had the words written "Lord and Savior".

*The False Prophet was Simon Magus, who, via "enchantment" (hypnotism) made the bust-statues of Nero appear to speak and move.

*The Great Tribulation (42 months) was the Second Revolt of the Jews against Rome which lasted 42 months; wherein a third of all the Jews in Palestine were killed.

*The Wonders of the Beast (making fire fall from heaven) were the Roman catapults that rained fire-balls upon Jewish cities.

*The Sun turning dark, the Moon turning to blood, and the Stars falling from Heaven, were the skies over Jerusalem when it burned to the ground (the smoke blackened the Sun, caused the Moon to turn red, and the "stars falling from heaven" were the fire-balls that the Roman catapults rained down upon Jerusalem for months during the seige of Jerusalem that lasted 42 months (3 and 1/2 years).


The Romans burning Jerusalem during their 42 month seige (132-136 A.D.), which caused the Sun to darken, the Moon to appear blood red. The Jews thought that the Roman fire-balls slung by Roman catapults were the stars falling upon them.

John Darby, an Englishman living in Plymouth, England, a man with no training in history nor biblical languages nor theology nor biblical interpretation, and knew nothing of early Christian history (outside of the New Testament) was simply mistaken in his interpretations of End-Times prophecy and the Rapture.

Yet, still today, over 100 million Evangelical Christians on earth accept his "futurist" interpretation of the Apocalyse and his views on the Rapture as "what the Bible says about the Rapture and the End-Times".

Darby was simply wrong.

This is NOT to say that there will not be "anti-christs"! There is not "one" end-times Anti-Christ! There are many end-times anti-christs, and many false prophets. Allan Kardec was not a "prophet" and therefore cannot be called a "false prophet". He was simply the codifier (organizer) of Christian Spiritism.

Anti-christs and false prophets have arisen in the past, and many are here currently, and more shall arise in the future. But the Anti-Christ of the Apocalyse was Nero, and "the False Prophet" of the Apocalyse was Simon Magus.

If Christians really want to know what the future has in store, they should read what the Christian Spiritist Mediums (the Order of the Just) have communicated about the future from the holy spirits in the Spirit-World.


The Spiritist Codification

Through communication with Jesus Christ and other holy spirits, Kardec would write five divinely-inspired books we call The Spiritist Codification:

*The Spirits' Book

*Heaven and Hell

*The Gospel According to Spiritism

*The Mediums' Book

*The Genesis According to Spiritism

These five books form the Basic Fundamentals of Spiritism and known as The Spiritist Codification.

In addition to The Spiritist Codification, we also accept additional spirit-inspired revelation through Mediums we call Psycho-graphs (i.e. "soul-writings" also known as "automatic writings"). These are messages, some as large as books, written by Mediums while they are in communication with holy spirits.

The Greek word Psycho-Graph is from the words psycho ("soul") and graph ("writing").

The most famous and prolific Spiritist Medium was Francisco Candido Xavier (a.k.a. "Chico Xavier") who wrote 409 psycho-graphs in a trance via automatic writing. His books sold over 25 million copies in Brazil, with all profits from such books going to charities. Chico Xavier died in 2002.

The Spiritist Codification, along with the phycho-graphs of later Mediums, are known collectively as The Spirit-Revelations.

Spirits believe....

*The Old Testament was written to guide the Hebrews (Jehovah=Father)

*The New Testament was written to guide the first Christians (Jesus=Son)

*The Spiritist Codification was written to guide the Christian Spiritists (Spirit of Truth=Holy Spirit)

Christian Spiritists do not rely on the interpretations of Popes, Priests, Ministers, or even Bible scholars. We reply upon the Messages received from the Spirit-World, from the Spirit of Truth (the Spirit of Jesus) and other holy spirits, as they have revealed their messages through our Christian Spiritist Mediums ("the Order of the Just" that Joachim saw in vision).


Is Mediumship UN-Biblical?

The Law of Moses forbade the Israelites from consulting those with "familiar spirits":

"Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God." (Leviticus 19:31)
There Hebrew word in translated "familiar spirits" in English is OWB, and means "water bottle". The original Hebrew thus would read:
"Don't pay any attention to those who have water bottles, neither seek after practishioners of Black Magick, to be made unclean by them: I am "I AM THAT I AM" your God." (Leviticus 19:31)
The Hebrew word OWB ("water bottle") meant an evil spirit, because when they spoke through Mediums the Medium's voice sounded like she was speaking inside an empty water bottle.

Spiritism too teaches that "evil spirits" (familiars) do exist, and they do try to communicate with humans through Mediums. But not all "spirits" that try to communicate are "familiars". Spiritism teaches Mediums how to "discern" at "familiar" (evil spirit) from a Good Spirit (a dead person) and a Superior Spirit (Spirit-Guide or Angel).

The LORD did approve Mediumship at least once in the Old Testament, with the story of King Saul and the "Witch" (Medium) of Endor.

The word "witch" is a MIStranslation here. It should read the "Medium" of Endor. King Saul went to her because he could not get a communication from the LORD via "Urim and Thummin" (lots), or via the Prophets (the Prophet Samuel was dead by that time). So, King Saul disguised himself and asked the Medium of Endor to awaken the sleeping soul of the Prophet Samuel. So, she awoke the sleeping soul of Samuel the Prophet. Samuel said, "Why have you disturbed me?" Then Samuel gives a message through the Medium, that the Philistines would win the next battle against Israel, and that Saul and his sons would be killed, and this happened just as the Prophet (via the Medium) said it would.

It is true that under the The Law of Moses, consulting mediums was forbidden. But, the Law of Moses also included no eating of pork, no working on the Sabbath, no eating shellfish, and no interbreeding of cattle. Paul referred to the Law of Moses as a "curse" that Jesus' death on the Cross cancelled out. He wrote:

"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law." (Galatians 3:13)
If Christians think that the Law of Moses is still in force, then they should do what the Law requires:

*Kill all those who break the Sabbath day or use the LORD's name is vain.

*Kill all women who commit adultery, and kill all homosexual men.

*Kill all who east pork or ham or bacon or shell-fish.

*Offer a spotless sheep or turtle dove or bull as a sin-offering every year on the Day of Atonement.

Why aren't Christians obeying ALL of the Law of Moses?

What part of the Law of Moses should Christians obey, and which parts should they NOT obey?

The answer is simple.

The entire Law of Moses has been done away with by the Cross; including the restriction against communication with the Spirit-World. That is because Jesus returned to the Spirit-World in 1844, and awoke the sleeping "saints". He and they are still in communication with the Mediums of Christian Spiritism, to this day.

There is a direct conduit of communication from Jesus Christ, in the Spirit-World, to the Christian Mediums of Spiritism! That is why we don't rely on Popes, or Priests, or Pastors, or even Bible scholars. They are guessing. We know.

The Christian Spiritist Mediums are taught the "discerning of spirits"; how to tell a Familiar Spirit from a Good Spirit or Superior Spirit. None of the doctrines or practices of Spiritism come from Familiar Spirits.

The Familiar Spirits want to "possess" bodies. There is no "possession" in Spiritism. Rather, Spiritism teaches how to "de-obsess" (exorcize) familiar spirits.

Familiar spirits do communicate through the Mediums of Voodoo and Camdomblé, but those religions have nothing to do with Christian Spiritism, but are in fact opposed to Christian Spiritism.


The Holy Spirits

Spiritism teaches that there is just not one Holy Spirit, but many "holy spirits" that communicate with spiritually-senstive people called "Mediums". These spirits are called "Superior Spirits". The most "Superior" of the Spirits is Jesus. Other Superior Spirits that have communicated to Spiritist Mediums are Joan of Arc, St. Augustine, St. Francis of Assisi, a physician named Andre Luis, a spirit named "Emmanuel", and many others.

These Holy Spirits communicate with Mediums, giving them messages. Each Spiritist Center has at least one Medium who may receive such inspired Messages; either for individuals or for the entire Spiritist society.


Spiritist Mediums

The Spiritists Mediums are the "Order of the Just" that Joachim of Fiore saw in vision in the 12th century. They do not charge a dime for what they do. They give their "Readings" for free.

Some people are "born" Mediums, but others can be trained. Everyone is a "potential" Medium, and Spiritist Societies do provide training in Mediumship.


Spiritism vs. Wizardry

Spiritism does NOT include any of the following:

*Witchcraft

*Casting of spells

*Making of magical potions

*Magical incantations

*Human or animal sacrifice.

*Healing with crystals

*Astrology

*Use of narcotics to enduce trances.

*Hypnotism

*Chanting

*Divination (predicting one's future by means means of spirits, cards, entrails, divining rods, etc.)

Spiritism DOES include invocation of Holy Spirits, and Mediums are taught the "discerning of spritis"; how to tell a Holy Spirit (Superior Spirit) from a "Good Spirit" (Average Spirit) and an "Evil Spirit" (Inferior Spirit).

Naturally, we do NOT accept all communications with the dead. Some of the dead are evil spirits, and we do not accept their messages as messages of God. Spiritist Mediums are trained in the Discerning of Spirits.


Reincarnation

Spiritism teaches that reincarnation is true, but not limited to this planet. We lived lives on other planets before this one, and will continue to live lives on other planets until a Spirit reaches the Celestial Worlds, and even on those Worlds the Celestial Spirits will not completely "rest" but act as messengers of God for the lower worlds.

Hebrews chapter 9:23 , where Paul writes that man is ordained to "die once, then the judgment" is NOT a refutation of reincarnation (as any Bible scholar will tell you), but rather Paul is trying to convince the Hebrew Christians that Christ died "once and for all" for sin. The Hebrews had to make sin-offerings (doves or sheep or bulls) every year on the Day of Atonement. Paul was telling them that they did not have to continue making these sin-offerings, because Jesus Christ had, once and for all, died as the final sacrifice for sin. Hebrews 9:23 is NOT a refutation of reincarnation.

The original Bible that Christians used was called the Septuagint (Greek Bible), which included the Wisdom of Solomon, which teaches reincarnation. It says:

"I was given a sound [healthy] body to liv ein because I was already good." (Wisdom of Solomon 8:19-20)
The Wisdom of Solomon was removed by a vote from Protestant Bibles in the late 16th century. It still exists in Catholic Bibles. The Protestant divines literally "took away" from the Word of God, a book that the early Christians believed was scripture.

Jesus referred to John the Baptist as the return of "spirit" of the Old Testament prophet Elijah (Matt. 17:10-13); John the Baptist was the reincarnation of Elijah. Jesus' disciples asked if a man born blind had sinned before his birth, and if that is why he was born blind (John 9:1-5). If they did not believe in reincarnation, they would have never asked if the man had "sinned".

There is evidence is clear that Jesus was a Nazarene; a member of a Jewish sect that had its own village (Nazareth--place of the Nazarenes). The Nazarenes were also called the "order of Married Essenes" by the Jewish historian Josephus (Judean War 2.160). Josephus referred to the Essenes as the disciples of Pythagoras (Antiquities of the Jews 15.371-2). Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher who formed his own school of disciples, who were celebate and wore all white (as the Essenes). Spiritism teaches that Jesus was Pythagoras in a previous lifetime. Pythagorus taught reincarnation.


Pythagoras (c. 586 B.C.)

The Three Ages (Age of the Father/Age of the Son/Age of the Holy Spirit) is God revealing "new things" to mankind. The Old Testament spoke nothing of Heaven or Hell. It taught that when we die we go to Sheol (the grave) and go to sleep, and that the dead "know nothing" (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6). The New Testament revealed more, that evil souls would be burned in Gehenna (Hell-fire) and righteous souls would go to Paradise. The Spirit-Revelation reveals even more about the Afterlife, as Jesus said:

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning. (John 15:26-7)
A "Spiritist" means literally "a follower of the Spirit of Truth.

A "Catholic" is a Christian who claims to follow the Popes of Rome. They believe that the Popes are the successors of Peter and the Vicars (deputies) of Christ, and that they are "infallible" in faith and morals.

A "Protestant" is a Christian who claims to follow the Bible alone ("sola scriptora"). In reality, Protestants actually follow various "schools of interpretation" of the Bible that have arisen over time. An "Evangelical" is a conservative Protestant as opposed to a liberal Protestant.

A "Spiritist" is a Christian who follows the teachings of the Spirit of Truth as revealed via the Spiritist Mediums in a body of revelations called The Spirit-Revelations which include The Spirit-Codification (five books compiled by Allan Kardec in 1869) and the Psycho-Graphs ("soul-writings") of a handful of modern Spiritist Mediums.

The Spirit of Truth came, in 1844, to the Unseen World (AER), and finally revealed Himself to Allan Kardec, the Apostle of Christian Spiritism, through Spiritist Mediums. Kardec codified (organized) these Spirit-messages from the Spirit of Truth into a body of beliefs called Christian Spiritism or usually just Spiritism.


Heaven and Hell

The Roman Catholic Church taught for 2,000 years that everyone who is not Roman Catholic shall burn in Hell for all eternity:


The fate of all non-catholics?

The Protestant Reformers continued to teach that all who are not "Christians" (i.e. Protestant Christians) shall burn in Hell for all eternity. The more conservative Protestants are called "Evangelicals".

Both the Catholic and Protestant reformers taught that "Heaven" consisted of a Heavenly Choir of angels that sang songs of praise to God and the Lamb (Jesus) for all eternity; one song after another, with the only other activity being to look down at the Damned burning and screaming in Hell for all eternity.


"Heaven" to Catholics and Protestants

Christian Spiritism teaches differently.

Spiritism rejects the idea of an unending "Heaven" which is a "Heavenly Choir" where the saved sing songs of praise for all eternity, one song after another, while occassionally glancing down at the damned burning in Hell for all eternity.

In Spiritism, there is no unending Heaven and no unending Hell. There is only an eternal journal through the worlds of God, with life in the Spirit-World between incarnations. The Spirit of Truth revealed to Allan Kardec the true nature of "Heaven and Hell" in the book Heaven and Hell; one of the five books in the Spiritist Codification.

"Heaven" for Christian Spiritists is the Spirit-World; which has 7 Planes, with Paradise as the highest Plane.

"Hell" for Christian Spiritists is the Matter-World, the material worlds, where the Sun burns our skins, and where we suffer pain, grow old, and die.

At death, all of us go to the Spirit-World where we await our next incarnation into mortality. The higher Planes are more pleasant, and the lower Planes are less pleasant. Our actions (works) in life decide where we go at death; either to the higher Planes or the lower Planes.

But, our existence in the Spirit-World is not "eternal". All of us reincarnate over and over again and will continue to do so until the End of Time; when all souls return to God.

The Spirit-Revelations describe the various Planes in the Spirit-World . You can read Spiritist books that describe the Spirit-World in detail.

The Spirit of Truth was to come and "teach us all things". That Spirit has accomplished His mission, through the Spirit-Revelations; published only by the Christian Spiritists.


Spiritism and Salvation

Roman Catholicism teaches that one must be a Roman Catholic to be "saved" (to avoid eternal Hell-fire at death), and one must die in a "state of grace" to avoid Purgatory (temporary Hell-fire).

Orthodox Christianity teaches one must be "Orthodox" to be saved, and "keep the commandments" (i.e. obey Orthodox priests and bishops) in order to be "saved" which means to avoid eternal Hell-fire at death.

Protestant Christians differ, but the Evangelicals among them believe that all one needs to be "saved" is to say "the Sinner's Prayer" and belief in one's heart that Jesus is their Lord and Personal Savior, and they will avoid eternal Hell-fire at death. As an "outward sign" that one is "saved" one must speak in tongues, or at least go to a "Bible-believing" Church every Sunday. Other "outward signs" of one being born again are:

*Accepting only the 66 books of the Bible as divinely-inspired, the only and final Revelation of God to mankind.

*Paying a pastor, minister, or preacher to "preach" on Sunday.

*Attending Church services at least weekly.

*Obeying the local pastor/minister/priest or board of Elders.

If one does not show these "outward signs" it means they were never truly saved in the first place.

Muslims believe that one must be a Muslim to be "saved". "Good" Muslims will go straight to Paradise at death, but "bad" Muslims will spend some time, temporarily, in Hell-fire, then go to Paradise. All non-muslims will burn in Hell-fire for all eternity. What a "good" or "bad" Muslims is depends on who you ask, there are thousands of different schools of thought in Islaam on that subject.

Christian Spiritism teaches differently.

Christian Spiritism teaches that it does not matter what religion one belongs to or even if one is an "Atheist". We are judged according to our works (Rev. 20:12). All men and women are judged by the same Law of Karma. Those who do good are rewarded for the good they have done, and those who do evil are punished equally. All are rewarded and punished equally, without exception. The Buddhist who does more good than a Christian is given a better reward. The Muslim who does more evil than a Atheist is punished more than the Atheist.The Atheist is does "more good" than a Christian, shall receive a better reward than a Christian!

All are judged equally, according to our "works" (Rev. 20:12).


The Spirit-World

The Spirit-World is the dimension where we exist between our incarnations. It is divided into 7 Planes; corresponding to the seven musical tones; one higher than the other. The 7th Plane is Paradise, the most pleasant Plane. This is what Jesus referred to when He said to the thief on the Cross:


"Today thou shalt be with me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43).

What Plane we dwell in in the Spirit-World depends on our spiritual vibration rate or "tone". The more spiritual we are, the higher our "tone" and the more pleasant our existence in the Spirit-World. The more materialistic we are, the lower our tone, and the less pleasant our "stay" in the Spirit-World.

The Spirit-World is described in great detail in the Psycho-Graphs ("soul-writings") of the Spiritist Mediums. If you want to know what happens to you after you die, then read their descriptions. These books are published by the Spiritists, and are available to anyone who reads English, Spanish, French, German, or Portugese.

Spiritist Societies

There are about two million or more Spiritists in the world today, in about twenty countries. The great majority of Spiritists live in Brazil. Spiritists are organized thusly:

*Spiritist Study Groups (unorganized gatherings of Spiritists in a locality who gather to read and discuss The Spirit Codification and additional materials). You can start your own Spiritist Study Group if you like. Ask us how.

*Spiritist Societies (an organized assembly of Spiritists in a town, city, region, or state who have a Spiritist Center (a formal meeting place) and at least one Medium).

*Spiritist Federation or Council (a national organization)

*International Spiritist Council (the international organization headquartered in Brasilia, Brasil).

Spiritism has no "Pope" or "Patriach" to guide all Spiritists. We are guided by the Holy Spirits who communicate to us via "Mediums".

Spiritist Mediums are not paid for the Readings. All is done voluntarily as an act of service.


Spiritist Centers

A "Spiritist Center" is a place where Spiritists meet. We have no churches. We have no Pastors, no Priests, no "Ministers" as such. We do have "Mediums" who receive messages for other Spiritists from their Guardian Angels (i.e. Spirit-Guides).

The Spiritist Center is very simple. It has no pulpits, no priests. The use of statues, candles, incense, litergy, special robes or clothing, sacrifice of animals, is all forbidden. Activities at a Spiritist Center include:

*Readings from the Spirit-Revelations.

*Study of the Bible.

*Sermons from Spiritists

*Classes for adults and children.

*Passes (laying on of hands for spiritual purposes such as healing, de-obession, etc.).

*Mediumship

*Training to become a Medium.

*Meditation

*Training to disseminate Spiritism.

There are many benefits of being a Spiritist, and they include...

*Knowing for a certainly that God and the Afterlife exist.

*Knowing what the Astral World (Spirit-World) is like by reading psycho-graphs (automatic writings) of Mediums which describe that world.

*Knowing how to help heal others mentally and physically via "passes" (laying on of hands).

*Knowing who one's Guardian Angel is, and what that Spirit-Guide wants to communicate to them (via a Medium).

*Learning how to become a Medium yourself and being in direct contact with your Guardian Angel and other Superior Spirits.

*Knowing how to help troubled human souls via the de-obsession process.

*Fellowship with other enlightened human beings who love one another, and who think as you do, and who believe in God, reincarnation, Jesus as their Savior, and in Mediumship (that Superior Spirits contact us to help us spiritually evolve).


Seekers of Truth

Those who are investigating Spiritism, but who are not yet Spiritists, are called "Seekers of Truth" or simply Seekers. There is no such thing as a "born Spiritist". We are all Seekers before we are Spiritists.

Seekers are advised to get the book The Spiritist Philosophy by Allan Kardec to being their quest, and to visit a local Spiritist Society if there is one located near you.

Remember, one does not have to belong to any "group" or "society" in order to be a Christian Spiritist. All one has to do is to read The Spirit Codification (all 5 books), and believe.

The True Church of Jesus Christ

The "CHURCH" that Jesus Christ founded was not a building, nor was it an "organization". It was people; the believers. The Church is not a "building". The ancient Christians did not call the buildings they worshipped in "churches". They called them "basilicas". The "church" simply means "community" or "assembly of believers".

The True Church of Jesus Christ is the mystical body of true believers, and only JESUS knows who is a true believer, and who is not. We do not. We may even "think" we are a "true believer" and not be. Only Jesus knows, and it is not for us to "judge" who is a true Christian and who is not. Jesus will do that.

The True Body of Jesus Christ exists only in Heaven (i.e. the Spirit-World). It does not exist as any organization on Earth. It includes all those who truly believe in Jesus Christ, and that includes Christian Spiritists.

If you are a Christian who believes that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, and the virgin-born Son of God, and you believe in reincarnation, and you believe that the Spirit of Truth (Jesus' Spirit) communucated through Mediums to Allan Kardec (the Apostle of Spiritism) in the 1850s, and comissioned him to compile The Spiritist Codification and to condify (organize) Spiritism, then you are a Christian Spiritist. Please read and sign the following Letter of Declaration and mail or fax that letter to the United States Spiritist Council (address on bottom of Letter of Declaration).

You then need to order a copy of The Spiritist Magazine ($5 including shipping and handling).

You need then to start a Spiritist Study Group our of your home, if you are able to do so, and if no Spiritist Group exists within 50 miles of where you live.

If you do NOT live in the U.S., then please contact the General Secretary of the International Spiritist Council, at spiritist@spiritist.org in English, Spanish, or Portugese. He will direct you to Spiritists in your country.

My name is Darrick Evenson. I was born in 1960 in Los Angeles. At age 18 I became a Mormon, and was a Mormon for 15 years. I was a Mormon missionary and apologist (defender of the Faith). In 1996 I left the Mormon Church and became a Baha'i. I was a Baha'i for several years. I resigned from the Baha'i Faith in 1998.
